Membership

The rules of the MCLT say that the CLT is for the benefit of its members and it is accountable to them. The members embody the Marshfield community and it is the members who elect the CLT’s board of directors.

To be a member, you must be 18 or over and you must sign up to the objectives of the CLT and its code of conduct. You will probably (but not necessarily) also be a Marshfield resident. You buy at least one share in the CLT. That’s it. Then the CLT is your CLT and you help decide what it should do and how it should do it. The share costs one pound. You can buy more shares if you wish but there is only one vote per member, not one vote per share.

We will also consult with the total Marshfield community, whether members of the CLT or not, before any major decisions are finalised. But, although non-members are consulted, it is the members, through their elected directors, who control the CLT.
